Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up 4 28 19

The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee: Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven and with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call. Psalm 20:1-9

Jacob is one of my favorite people in the Bible. A bit disappointed when first reading of how he and his mom misled the dad into giving Jacob the birthright away from Esau, but seems, as things go with God, things worked out the way they were suppose to. Jacob and Esau made amends eventually. The story of love of Jacob for Rachel would be-still any woman's heart. He worked for years for the right to marry her. Then there's the story of his mean sons to the favorite son, Joseph. But all and all, Jacob went to his death with things in their right place. Joseph was restored to him, and the brothers knew the shame of their actions. He was able to bless his sons; the twelve tribes of Israel.

Who is one or some of your favorites from the Bible?

Thanks for visiting and sharing a scripture blessing this Sunday (the Last Sunday in April for 2019). The month has flown, never to be known again. Onward to May. :)

  1. I appreciate your interpretation of Jacob's life. I think he gets painted with the broad brush of his early scheming, and we forget that he was faithful to the end.

  2. I do not care for the new inlinkz. I am using Linkytools and find it much more user friendly.

  3. Jacob wrestled with God and was forever marked by the experience. I like that, for don't were all wrestle with God and His ways until we finally come to a point of surrender and trust?

  4. I just finished a Jen Wilkin study on Genesis, Chapters 12-50 and we spent a lot of time on Jacob's story, It was fascinating. It really challenged the way I'd always looked at these people. If you ever get a chance to do her studies on Genesis, I highly recommend it. I love Genesis. It's a book of beginnings: the beginning of time, of covenants, the beginning of Israel and the beginning of redemption. There is so many parallels with the story of Jesus and Revelation's references. Hope you had a blessed Easter and wonderful week ahead.
