A few years ago, I found a blog called
Pixel Dust Photo Art where a lady named Bonnie shared her textures, and also her lovely artwork. She gave free textures as well as selling the textures made from her artwork, and also she did tutorials on how to make your photo look like a piece of art. The above photos are from one of her tutorials sharing how to achieve this effect through gradient fill. I had just found her site when shortly after she decided to take a hiatus from her blog. It is still there, but she has not returned.
