Happy Sunday. As we say good-bye to May here in Ohio, the furnace is back on after a couple weeks of temps in the 80's and 90 degree weather. Ohio can never make up its mind. Spring will return next week, they say. lol

As we celebrate Memorial week-end, prayers in memory of those who died in service so we could enjoy our freedom.

Isaiah 1:16-18 Wash you, make you clean, put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up 6 21 2020


17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up 6 14 2020

I apologize if you remember this post, but I had my third time in hospital in two months with this AFIB, and kids are coming from WV so just didn't feel up to doing a new post. Sunday Scripture Blessings link Up 2 23 2020


To salt a conversation - add wisdom as well as grace instead of just a quick answer. Flavor it with meaning to try to discern a good volume of understanding to give the conversation more meaning.

In Paul's day, salt had monetary value, and was used as payment so to say 'to salt' would mean to add something worth saying, but say it gracefully.

I fear, I do tend to just spit out an answer to a question, and then in after thought realize it was not very graceful. My prayer today is that I would be reminded of this scripture before I speak; add more grace to my tongue.

Psalm 124 NIV
A song of ascents, of David
If the LORD had not been on our side-
let Israel say-
if the LORD had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
the flood would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have swept over us,
the raging waters
would have swept us away.

Praise be to the LORD,
who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
We have escaped like a bird
from the fowler's snare;
the snare has been broken,
and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 120 begins the 15 song of ascents, of David. 
I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me. Save me LORD, from the lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What will he do to you and what more besides, you deceitful tongue? He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar! Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up 4 22 18


-the rest of this: Yon ship has just departed, but it is already at its haven. It did but spread its sail and it was there. Like that ship of old, upon the Lake of Galilee, a storm had tossed it, but Jesus said, "Peace, be still," and immediately it came to land. Think not that a long period intervenes between the instant of death and the eternity of glory. When the eyes close on earth they open in heaven. The horses of fire are not an instant on the road. Then, O child of God, what is there for thee to fear in death, seeing that through the death of thy Lord its curse and sting are destroyed? and now it is but a Jacob's ladder whose foot is in the dark graves, but its top reaches to glory everlasting.

I saw this on my daily devotional this week. Had never read it before. Seems it would be perfect for someone who has recently had the loss of a loved one.

The Spirit of the LORD is on me,

Reading in Luke 4: JESUS SAYS

JESUS IS TESTED IN THE WILDERNESS
  • Man shall not live on bread alone
  • It is written: Worship the LORD your God and serve him only
  • Do not put the LORD your God to the test.
JESUS IS REJECTED AT NAZARETH
  • Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing
  • Surely you will quote this proverb to me: Physician, heal yourself. And you will tell me, Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum. Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown. I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine through-out the land. In my Reading Through The Bible, I am finally deciding to read Revelations. It's such a daunting book of the Bible, I feel anyway. But, nevertheless, one that if we're reading the complete Bible, I feel I have to read it also. It makes my insides quivery to even read the words.

The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw.
