Pictorial Tuesday with Link Up 5 29 18

Welcome to Pictorial Tuesday where we celebrate our Photography and share with others. No need to be an expert photographer; all that is required is the love of taking pictures, the love of making graphic art out of our photographs or just doing graphics.

Today, I'm sharing a yellow Zinnia that I planted in my flower bed this year. Since I'm not much of a gardener, I'm hoping it flourishes and makes it through the Summer season. Also, I think it looks much like a Dahlia, and I love Dahlias.

My kids and grandbaby are coming over the Memorial Holiday week so I'm hoping I can talk them into taking a trek on some trails with me so I can take some photos. Mostly right now my latest are flowers, which I love, but feel I need a photo shoot out in nature.

You're next for sharing, and have a nice Memorial Holiday.

Sunday Scripture Blessings with Link Up ~ A Salute To All Veterans ~ 5 27 18

When young, all I knew of war was my grandparents and mom telling about the world war. They still hadn't gotten over being so careful to save and the bread lines, but times were getting better. I knew nothing of war until after I was first married. The draft in America was common. At 18, the young men had to sign up. Then Vietnam happened. The young friends were beginning to know what their draft number meant. Some worried when they would be called, some were excited to go and serve in a foreign country. Some had never traveled any further than our home town.

By the grace of God, my new husband was saved from the war because President Kennedy said any married man didn't have to go. We were relieved.

Then we received the news that my younger sister's boyfriend and friend since middle school who had been drafted right out of high school was killed within the first few months that he was in Vietnam. He was only 18. If you knew Allan, you knew a smile would be on your face because he was always ready with a way to make you laugh. Day by day we would hear of friend's names that were killed. It was a long war. It was a hard time for quite a while for my sister. Life had changed drastically from the carefree years of youth.

This Memorial Week-end and every day, I honor the ones who make my America safe by their heroism. Thank you to all Veterans who serve in any capacity. I admire and respect them, and hope all have a nice Memorial holiday. I say a prayer for all veterans that life blesses each and every one, and if it doesn't that God intercedes and gives them all that they need and deserve. I know America is lacking in how well we do take care of our vets, and that is sad.

Below is a link to a list of ones who died from Ohio during Vietnam if you would like to look at it. I honor their names:

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. John 15:13 NIV

Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 82: 3-4

A poem I wrote to honor my adopted POW

A POEM FROM A MOTHER
Bring my baby home.....at least for a day
Even if I can't wipe the tears away -
At least I can see him one more time...
And then in my heart, I'll know he's fine -
He was so young when he went away....
he had no idea it would be such a long stay -
He has suffered so much for you and I...
please bring my baby home before I die -
I just need to gaze on his face once more...
So long since he left our shore -
I'll hold him in such a long embrace...
Ahhhh..just to see that face -
It's weathered, It's worn...He looks so forlorn -
He has longed to be home for so many years...
He long ago forgot how to cry many tears -
He doesn't even know or remember who he set out to be...
He only remembers that he saved you and me And
the wonderful land once more that our forefathers named
when they reached this shore
"AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL"
"AMERICA THE FREE"
That's what my baby did for you and me -
PLEASE SET HIM FREE
He didn't ask much...
He was so proud to go do his duty with the rest of the crowd -
But he just wants to come home now and rest...
He is so weary -

One of my new flowers in the flower garden this year ~ a Takion Blue Bellflower. Hoping it is hardy where I planted it because I really like it. Says bloom season is Spring so didn't really realize that when I bought it, but will grace my Spring each year. I'm partial to blue so liking the color.

Excerpt about the flower taken from perennials.com
The Peach-leaved Bellflowers are popular old cottage garden perennials, cultivated for centuries. This is an outstanding compact strain, with the classic cup-shaped violet-blue bell flowers but with a more showy outfacing habit. Excellent for cutting. Removing individual faded flowers will keep plants blooming for weeks on end. Easy to please in any sunny border setting and terrific in containers. A recent introduction, this F1 hybrid was developed by breeder American Takii.

Thanks for sharing your photography, digital graphics, and photography artwork at Pictorial Tuesday. Please try to visit one or two others that have linked and leave them a hello.

Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up 5 20 18

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim King of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. He then ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials to bring to the king's service some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility - young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing some aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace.  Among those were DANIEL who was given the name BELTESHAZZAR
HANANIAH who was given the name SHADRACH
MISHAEL who was given the name  MESHACH
AZARIAH who was given the name ABEDNEGO

To these young men GOD gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And DANIEL could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. This is how Daniel became the one King Nebuchadnezzar had interpret his dreams.

No one could interpret King Nebuchadnezzar's dreams but Daniel prayed to GOD for the interpretation so the king wouldn't kill all the wise men of Babylon who couldn't interpret. GOD gave Daniel the interpretation.

Daniel 2:44 In the time of those kings, the GOD of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. 45: This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands - a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. "The great GOD has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy." 46: Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him. 47: The king said to Daniel, "Surely your GOD is the GOD of gods and the Lord of Kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery. 4: Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men. 49: Moreover, at Daniel's request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel remained at the royal court.

Because of this the other administrators were jealous because King Darius was going to set Daniel over the whole kingdom, they talked the King into making a decree that no one should pray to any god or human being during the next thirty days except to the King, and if they do they shall be thrown into the lion's den. That is how Daniel was thrown in because he refused to not pray to GOD and prayed. But GOD sent an angel who closed the mouths of the lions so no harm came to Daniel. After Daniel was saved, King Darius had the false accusers thrown in the lions' den and they were killed.

6:25 Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth:

"May you prosper greatly!

6:26 I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the GOD of Daniel. "For he is the living GOD and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. 27: He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions."28: So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus, the Persian.

Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up ~ 5 13 18

Hosea was one of the minor prophets. God is comparing Israel to an unfaithful people who have ignored God for other idols. I chose to share from the last chapter of Hosea because for all their unfaithfulness, God is ever loving in his Mercy once Israel repents.

Hosea 14:1-3
Return, Israel to the LORD your GOD. Your sins have been your downfall! Take words with you and return to the LORD, say to him: "Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips. Assyria cannot save us; we will not mount warhorses. We will never again say 'Our gods' to what our own hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion."

The word of the LORD that came to Hosea son of Berri during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, king of Judah, and during the reign of Jeroboam son of Jehoash kind of Israel.

I can say that reading Hosea was not one of my favorites because it is mostly God being upset by his people, and always amazing that no matter what, they just don't seem to get it after all that God has done for them. (just my opinion). Although, the last shows that God is there waiting with open arms if they're will to repent.

Hope all moms have a splendid Mother's Day.
On the April 29th Sunday Scripture Blessings, I mentioned a plant growing by my garage that I must have planted but had no idea what it was going to be. Discovered that the plant in the photo above that my daughter gave me last year for Mother's Day, I did take it out and plant it after the blooms had died and the leaves had wilted. Wasn't sure it would make it because I just hastily planted it in the ground. So I get to enjoy it again this year. :)

Besides being the mom of three adult babies, I've been the mom of this Fur-baby for the past 6 years. He helps fill that empty nest. Sometimes, a bit too much since he can get kind of demanding. haha
