Matthew 4 - Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward and hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Oh to have the strength of Jesus when temptation comes calling. If I bake, I find myself indulging in it more than I should so I no longer really bake sweets that much. However, there is a Banana Bread that has called my name ever since I made it couple days ago. So, the devil is still doing his deeds in every day life, but we can turn to God and turn our backs on Satan. Live by the words that proceeded out of GOD's~ mouth, and it is a reminder. I still fail daily, but with the Word, I have a strong reminder.

New Year, new resolves that are quickly forgotten by a few weeks in so I really never have made resolutions. My one resolve, I guess, has always been to be the best person that I can especially in the eyes of my children. I lived by the motto that how, if I did it, could I then tell my children not to. However, being their own being, they did do some things that I would not have expected. They tried their wings, per se, they learned lessons, and have come through the other side not totally unscathed, but I call them pretty awesome, but then I'm the mom and a bit prejudice.  So, I see God in those terms. A wonderful example for us is what he wants, but in our humanness, we spread our wings, we fail, but we can always get back up. He is our helper in all things. Even against the temptations of Satan.

Hope the New Year is treating everyone well so far, and I appreciate all who stop by to share a blessing each Sunday. Thank you.

  3. These thoughts about temptation, resolution, and parenting are such a lovely winter bouquet of truth. I recently read this story of Jesus's temptation in my own devotions, and it's a glorious comfort to know that He rode the bucking bronco of temptation to its mastery!

  4. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on temptation with us. I can relate to your thoughts about your children. As a mother, I am glad my boys all survived their rebellious teen years relatively unscathed too. It does feel like, now that they are adults, we have made it to the other side.

I love the new look of your blog!

  5. Now I'm in the stage that our two oldest grands are in the teens. Watching them make choices, praying protection over them and hoping that they aren't scarred from wrong choices.

  6. oh yes, new years resolutions so often go by the wayside when temptations come. If only I could always be as wise as Jesus in using Scripture to fight those battles. My teens and young adult children as well.
