Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up 1 26 2020

In this Chapter 15 of the Gospels, Jesus rebukes scribes and Pharisees and they are asking:

Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. And Jesus replies, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your traditions?

In reading this, it comes to mind so much is given just in those two statements and answer by Jesus.

He goes on to explain to both the disciples and the Pharisees throughout the verses in Chapter 15 1-19. The Gospels and Jesus speaking is what I value in trying my best to stay rooted. It is all there. Some of his words are hard to digest for my human self, but throughout the Gospels, he also offers ways to improve, and I think he knows it is an ongoing process.

"And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man." Matthew 15:16-20

Key on the good things in the Life we are given. One key is LOVE.

  1. These statements are unclear to me. I think what is being said is that if i do not allow myself to be planted by the Heavenly Father i shall be rooted up. My roots need to be in God so that the wind won’t blow me away like chaff.

  2. It's a rainy winter morning, and I must say that just thinking about "planting" and God as our gardener does my heart good.

  3. The Pharisees “roots” were planted in their own works and self-righteousness. The Father sent the Son do we could be planted in God’s family through the righteousness of Jesus by receiving Him as Savior and Lord. Praise God!
