Sunday Scripture Blessings Link Up 11 21 2021

A prophecy concering Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshire.

The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord takes vengeance on his foes and vents his wrath against his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebukes the sea and dries it up; he makes all the rivers run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither and the blossoms of Lebanon fade. The mountains quake before him and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, the world and all who live in it. Who can withstand his indignation? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; the rocks are shattered before him.

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, but with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of Nineveh; he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness.

NAHUM 1:1-8

I've rarely read Nahum, but thought would share some of this scripture today.

  1. I am thankful for my family, for my Bible which brings me strength and comfort, for cooler weather and a warm house, for coffee every morning and tea every evening. I am also thankful for the friends I've met along the way. May you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. You know, we often lean on Nahum 1:7, but we pull it out of context. I'm so thankful God offers refuge to those with whom He is righteously angry.

I'm thankful for shelter and salvation in Him, for my family, for God's Word, for church, for a warm home and good food, for music and books and friends. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  4. The lessons in the minor prophets are sometimes harder for us to understand, but this passage lets us see God's justice as well as the refuge offered.

I am thankful for family and dear friends, for God's provision and abundance, and for music and laughter. Happy Thanksgiving!
