Sunday Scripture Blessing 11 9 2025

Rescribbling a post from Job. He is one of my favorite books of the Bible. I often hear the phrase, "If only I had the patience of Job?" Is not that true on some days?

I am as one mocked of his neighbor,
who calleth upon God, and he answereth
him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
Job 12:4 KJV

Job stands up for himself. Explains his goodness, his stedfast fear of God and doesn't blame. His persecution is not from doing evil. Job continues to explain what he's about and who he is to his friends who have apparently forgotten. He has not had a lustful eye nor committed adultery, has not been vain nor deceitful, has not rejoiced at others misfortunes nor wished bad on anyone; has helped the poor; has kept God in his heart because he feared the loss of God. Has considered his fellow man as a brother as they both came from the same place...the womb of their mother so one is no better than the other. Circumstances would only be the differentiating of their lives. He freely gave of what he had been given. Again he explains that his persecution is not from doing evil.

In the beginning of the book of Job, it is explained that God believes in his servant Job and allows the Devil to tempt him and coerce him from his righteousness, but he is not allowed to kill or harm Job.

The Spirit of God hath made me,
and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Job 33:4 KJV

  1. I just spent the weekend with a very old and very dear friend along with her mother and her daughter. We had the best time with so much laughter! This verse was spot on.

    1. That would be the best hooking up with friends we haven't seen in a while. Some of the best days.

  2. It helps to remember Job in our troubles--both his trusting God through them and the fact that unseen forces are always at work. I love the fact that, although God didn't answer Job's questions, Job's encounter with God satisfied him.

  3. There's so much to ponder and learn from in Job, and it's not an easy book. I love the perspective that it gives of God's sovreignty and that even if we never understand it all, nothing can touch us unless God allows it.
