Exodus 28:29-30
And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually. And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummin; and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.

Note taken from my Bible Dictionary and Concordance: U'rim and Thum'min (light and perfection). The Scriptures do not describe Urim and Thummin, nor does Jewish tradition give any information. It was placed in the high-priest's breastplate in order to be upon his heart when he went in before the Lord, and was the medium through which the divine will was sought and made known. Exod. 28:30, 1 Sam. 28:6

I love it when Jesus shows up in the Old Testament, bringing meaning and life to the sometimes puzzling descriptions of temple worship and the complicated routines of righteousness.

Hi Michele...thank you for visiting and commenting. ~hugs~
DeleteAll of the Old Testament is perfectly woven with consistent patterns that carry on through Revelation. It's all about Jesus and His plan to save and redeem us. I'm so very thankful for God's Word!
ReplyDeleteHello! Thank you so much for giving me food for thought and inspiring, strengthening blogs to visit and smile. Blessings! Patricia
ReplyDeleteWhen I visualize coming into the presence of God in the tabernacle, I picture the breast plate on myself and name each one of the stones with one of my prayer concerns or loved ones.
